   While the public comment period for the Notice of Preparation and the Initial Study for the District’s sport and event stadium at Rio Americano has closed, the District has stated that input provided will be used to inform the scope and content of the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR).

   Tell the District what should be studied and included in the DEIR, including:

   • Insist that the District prepare a full and comprehensive DEIR not a limited or focused DEIR for the Rio Americano stadium project. Request that a full comprehensive DEIR be prepared that accurately documents and studies all impacts beyond the project and campus footprint, evaluate all impacts to the neighborhoods, community, public, wildlife, and the Wild and Scenic Lower American River Parkway, cumulative impacts and others that will be impacted by the stadium project, operations, increased capacity and planned use(s).

   • Insist on full disclosure and transparency for this project, and all other projects at Rio Americano, including, but not limited to, the cell phone tower, removal/construction of the tennis courts and pool, and that all cumulative impacts from these projects are fully analyzed.

   • Insist the District provide better communications, updates on new information, postings, and notice of this and other projects at Rio Americano to the public, surrounding neighborhoods and communities (on both sides of the river and areas surrounding project – current reach and actions not adequate), parkway users, environmental and American River Parkway stakeholders, government entities (state, local, federal), and other interested members of public.

   Dear School Board Representative [NAME],

   I have recently learned that the District proposes a high capacity sports and events stadium, cell tower, and other improvements at Rio Americano High School (Rio). Rio abuts the American River Parkway. The public has not been adequately notified and consulted regarding this intended project. Neighbors, community members, County parkway staff, and parkway users are very concerned about this proposal and its impact on the community and Lower American River and Parkway.

   See County Parks 2/4/26 public comment letter submitted to Nicholas Arps, Director of Facilities Construction and Modernization.

   I respectfully request that you facilitate:

   1) Improved public notice and communication regarding the proposed project.

   2) The formation of a stakeholder working group that includes Facilities Committee members, School Board members, neighbors, County Parkway staff, and representatives from Save the American River Association (SARA) to help ensure that the Parkway is respected as the important state asset it is, that its educational value to the District is recognized, and that all applicable laws protecting it are followed.

   3) The release and posting on the District's website of visual renderings of the proposed high-capacity sports and events stadium, cell tower, and other planned improvements, along with sufficient project details to allow for meaningful public review and evaluation.
